The software or firmware that the Nest wifi has is very bad and Google needs to fess up. I've already replaced cables, modem, network switch, and am now on my 3rd router. Many of my devices are hard wired with cat 6 via a switch after the router. The downloadable app supports high-bandwidth speedtests much better than the web version - so I'd give.

I am assuming they don't slow down google or social media servers which is what most people would use. It's not like my smart switches are sucking all my bandwidth! Regardless. My throttling speed seems to be 100mbps in daytime and 200mpbs in night time. I explained that the Nest wifi router and 2 nest points should be able to handle a smart home with this many devices easily. My Google support rep said that almost 80 devices is alot. I can't understand how they can let this get so bad. Just received my 2nd replacement router from Google but I already tried telling them this is their software not the hardware. When adding the Nest wifi router after the modem and then house fed from that speeds get severely cut. Confirmed with direct connection to computer that my ISP connection is good. I've had my ISP techs come and all lines and service to the modem great. Its definitely being throttled by Google.

My set up is one Nest WiFi Router + one Nest Point Anyone else got this similar issue goin on with their set up? Anyone find any solutions? I only see a few threads here and there with same issue. I’m hoping more people that are experiencing this issue are contacting google to let them know.

Finally someone calls me and all I get from him was him confirming that google is aware of this issue and it’s result from the latest software update and that multiple customers are experiencing this and their engineers are working on it.

I finally asked google support for the option to speak to a “supervisor”, even Though I don’t mean to be that person, but honestly getting fed up with this. The technician told me he was aware of this issue with multiple customers that are using a google WiFi system, and told me it’s 100% the Nest WiFi router throttling the speeds, since we were were able to confirm the speeds from the modem coming were consistently 400+ mb, but once going into the router, was being throttled down to ~90mb.Īfter telling google this information still no update or resolution. there are seldom times after restarting I get my original speeds back but then after a few hours it drops back to ~90mb, once it drops back to ~90mb, it won’t ever go back up unless I do a restart on all devices and only sometimes like I said it goes back to 400+ for a few hours.įinally I said I’ll have my ISP tech visit, to determine if ISP issue or Nest router, they determined no issues at my location or with my modem, but still replaced modem just Incase. Changing etherenet cable, running diagnostic reports. I have been in contact with google support ever since trouble shooting every possible way.
